Basically I’m writing because I’m riding in the truck on the way home after a long day.  Hubby had a small job to do in the Cities (for all you non-Minnesotans that means the Twin Cities, Minneapolis/Saint Paul & surrounding suburbs).  We were up early & headed off on the 2.5 hour drive.  Since this job was for a friend of Hubby’s I went along—we haven’t seen them in ages. Let me back up & say that I was rather rudely awakened early this morning by the most foul smell in the world.  It was so bad it woke me from a very deep & restful sleep…I don’t know where the skunk sprayed but it filled the house & nested in the corners.  I had a difficult time going back to sleep—being before 5:30 I was a little peeved.  Of course I was also freezing as it was a balmy 37 or so…I glanced outside as I was closing the windows to try to keep any more skunk stench from permeating the very fiber of the house (incidentally as I’m typing about the horrid skunk smell we have traveled through a noxious cloud of it again….) and noticed that the newly mown grass was a shiny silver in the early dawn light. Anyway, we went to the Cities where Hubby worked hard building some steps from the house to the new patio & also a few sets of shelves for the garage.  I hung out with the wife & kids of Hubby’s friend. It was okay…nothing terrible but it’s hard when you haven’t seen someone in years & you didn’t really have anything in common the last time you were together.  We visited a bit & watched the boys play etc. Other than that I’m glad to have survived the week. It seemed like it would never end.  After the Jeep debacle on Monday we also spent a ridiculous amount of money to replace the front brakes on Hubby’s truck (there’s no way that check won’t bounce) & then we also had to spend a bit on the mower as after fixing it himself (yay for a handy Hubby) the freaking belt broke.  If I don’t end up in a cardboard box this month it will be a miracle indeed.
